
The African Youth Charter adopted on 2nd/July/2006 in Article 26A of the African Youth Chatter charges youth to be owners of their own development. This means we are the main drivers of how best we can tackle the problems faced and consider sustainable solutions to Building a Shared Future for Africa.
Africa Summit on Youth Employment– ASYE Summit was inspired into action as a long lasting initiative contributing and supporting the African Union Commission initiative called “One Million by 2021” which was launched in April 2019 to catalyze action for youth development in Africa. The summit fulfils and contributes to the Agenda 2063 under Goal No.1 of A high standards of living, quality of life and well-being for all citizens, for the Priority Area of Income, jobs and descent work and Goal No.2 of well educated citizens and skills revolution underpinned by science, technology and innovation, for the Priority Area of Education and science, technology and innovation (STI) driven skills revolution. These contribute to the UN SDG goals for the #TheAfricaWeWant.
AYE Youth Network consists of 6 Pan-African regional representatives from the six regions of the African Union with a mission to advocate, research and engage their respective regional states.
Each African Regional Representative team elects their own country ASYE Ambassadors to lead and coordinate the AYE Youth Network and ASYE SUMMIT activities in their respective country(s) of origin. These equally lead the process of identification and selection of various coordinators.
All AYE Youth Network online channels and social media platforms shall always push and share all youth related events, summits, conferences, fellowships, symposiums etc from various organisations, companies, CSOs and partners across all African states and the diaspora as well as broadcasting them live when required.
AYE Youth Network has categories of coordinators that include the Community coordinators and University coordinators working in and with the communities and University Institutions respectively.
All AYE Youth Network online channels and social media platforms shall always push and share all youth related events, summits, conferences, fellowships, symposiums etc from various organisations, companies, CSOs and partners across all African states and the diaspora as well as broadcasting them live when required.
ASYE is receiving submissions for the six regional representatives as by the African Union, theough the AYE Youth Network to actively engage the political, economic, online and offline spaces from the grassroots.
The Six represented African Regions ;
1- North Africa (7 countries): Algeria, Egypt, Mauritania, Morocco, Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and Tunisia.
2- West Africa (15 countries): Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Cote d'Ivoire, Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.
3- Central Africa (9 countries): Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Sao Tome-and-Principe.
4- East Africa (14 countries): Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.
5- South Africa (10 countries): Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
6- African Diaspora (170 million people): "People of African origin living outside the continent, irrespective of their citizenship and nationality and who are willing to contribute to the development of the continent and building of the African Union", Definition of the African Union.
